It's been a year in the making and Friday, July 3, Sen. Kit Bond helped cut the ribbon for wetland restoration project on the Riverfront Heritage Trail.
Muggy air. Threatening rain clouds. Mud-covered grass. It wasnt the best environment for an outdoor event Friday afternoon, but that didnt dishearten organizers of the KCRiverFest.The festival had already dodged several financial roadblocks this past year because of the ailing economy.
Kansas City feels and looks classically American, complete with heart-pounding amusement parks, the Kansas City Royals baseball team and its own distinctive style of barbeque (like Memphis-style, only saucier). Kansas City touts over 100 barbeque restaurants, but the food and atmosphere at the original Arthur Bryant's is an absolute can't miss experience. Having created its own distinctive style of music, Kansas City Jazz is the highlight of the historic 18th and Vine District, with many live shows offered alongside cultural destinations like the American Jazz Museum. Not far from its fascinating historical areas, the city's downtown is bursting with new life, kick started by the beautifully renovated Power & Light District, a shopping and entertainment area covering nine city blocks.
